Moving overseas meant I had to sell all of my beloved kitchen appliances which would no longer comply with the 220 v power source of Switzerland. As any domestic girl can attest to, parting with your KitchenAid mixer is like finding out your childhood dog died. In fact, second to my motorcycle, my mixer was next on my “have-a-kleenex-nearby-when-it-sells” list.
Replacing the mixer once we arrived in Switzerland was not an option as the standard models cost over $900. I struggled with a hand-held mixer for a year and avoided certain recipes because my little mixer couldn’t beat the cream fast enough to actually make whipped cream! But now that we’re in America, the land of the cheap, I not only replaced my mixer but got an upgrade to the Professional 6-qt model. Bring on the cream!
