How-To Video :: Stovetop Popcorn

{Stovetop Popcorn}

2 tbsp oil*
1/2 cup popcorn

Makes 3 servings.

Place oil in large pot on maximum heat. Throw in a few test kernels and wait for them to pop. This will tell you your oil is hot enough. Put in the rest of the popcorn and cover with lid. Immediately begin to move the pot back and forth, making sure to keep contact with the stove’s element at all times. Always keep the kernels moving so they don’t burn.

*Because this is cooked on high, you are best to use an oil that can withstand the high heat without converting to a trans fat. Those oils are: Almond, Avocado, Grapeseed, Peanut, Safflower, Sesame and Sunflower.

    ohhhhhh how I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VIDEO and I’ll tell ya why in a sec…….but first I just wanted to say hi to the boys!! They look so big!! and Liam was an awesome videographer! and Jack perfectly tossed the kernels into the pot! WTG boys!!

    ok now my story, lol…….when I was a kid we cooked our popcorn in a pot exactly the same way and we also had the coolest iron popcorn popper for the fireplace!! Well at least that’s where it was popped so I am assuming it’s for the fp! lol……that’s not my story though……..when I was 7 and my brother was 13 he cooked popcorn for him and I in a pot, on the stove……he says to me……”hey Jude, check to see if it’s ready. Just lift the lid to check” well being the unknowing 7 yr old that I was I lifted that lid only to be bombarded by popping kernels!! I hated my bro sometimes back then! lol

    Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories Tash! :o)
