When In Rome…Eat Funnel Cake

With absolutely no idea of what to expect, our little Canadian family packed up the car and headed to The California State Fair in Sacramento.

We started the day off with a trip to Krispy Kreme. Yes, folks. Krispy Kreme.  It’s been YEARS since I’ve had one of these and it was Jack and Liam’s first time.  Yummy cheat but probably a few more years before my next one.

But this was just a foreshadow of things to come.  I seriously need to detox after one day at the fair. In fact, I nearly bought a juicer while buying my food processor yesterday morning — my body was screaming for carrot + celery juice. Even though we split all these goodies between the four of us, they were ridiculously fatty, full of empty calories, and well, kinda yummy.

We had no idea what a "funnel cake" was -- still not sure it's worth all the hype. Basically a super greasy donut coated with sugar (or other random toppings, if you feel like adding another 800 calories).

I saw these when we first walked in and couldn't get them out of my head for the rest of the day. So I needed to eat them. This picture doesn't do it justice -- this block of french fries were four inches tall. Bigger than my head.

No, I didn't eat this. Although I must admit that I love corn dogs, I just can't get over the meat (?) of who knows what inside them.

To be honest though, I still enjoy my “health” food more!

Domestically Yours,
Natasha Kay
