This week, I’ve asked my Fitness Train Passengers to acknowledge what it is they know they should cut out of their life but haven’t.
And so I’ll ask you, too. What is that one thing that is holding you back from truly reaching their goals? It could be sugar, alcohol, daily dessert, marijuana, refined carbs, mindless TV, allowing negativity to consume you, or too much time spent surfing the internet. Anything that continually takes you a step backward instead of forward is a vice that needs to be dealt with.
For me, I’m spending the next four weeks eating a lot more vegetables, fruit and nuts as I have removed all grains (flour, oats, corn, quinoa, rice, etc) and refined sugar (white, brown, evaporated cane juice, corn syrup, glucose, etc). I’m not a huge fan of diets that “outlaw” a certain food group but for me, I know that grains are causing me grief and it’s time to try a “cold turkey” approach. And sugar? Well, we would all be better off if we cut that poisonous junk out of our lives! There is really ZERO benefit to having refined sugars in our diets. And I mean, ZERO. Even if I only eat organic sources, it’s still sugar. It’s still liquid poison. And it still makes my face itchy (how weird is that?!).
I’ve got Train Passengers putting down the cigarettes (and hey, if Lisa can find the motivation to cut out 20 cigarettes a day, the least you can do is forgo dessert!), others who are taking a break from their beloved nut butters (every healthy gal knows when she’s been a little too involved with that almond butter…), and some even cutting out caffeine (gasp!).
What one thing could you do over the next few weeks to really accelerate your health and fitness goals? If you want it badly enough, you’ll own up to that nagging voice in the back of your head that keeps telling you what you already know deep down. Or you’ll actually stop and listen to that voice instead of shutting it out and have a personal revelation that can propel you to the next level of a healthy life.
Do you have the guts to post it as a public commitment? Stop standing on the sidelines of a better life! Post that comment now!
